There are 7 large, convenient public parking lots downtown with a total of 688 parking spots and another 418 on-street spots.  There is ample parking available.  Parking in our downtown is customer-friendly.  Handicap parking is available at each of these lots.  Rates are competitive; lots are bright, accessible and well maintained.

Is there free parking downtown?

There is free parking in the Downtown after 5pm on weekdays and on weekends.

Can I buy monthly parking passes?

You can purchase monthly and early parking passes from City Hall on weekdays between 8:30am and 4pm for the parking lots in Downtown Timmins.

Is there parking for businesses?

Business owners and employees in Downtown Timmins are encouraged to park in the parking lots and leave on street parking for customers visiting the Downtown. There are many parking lots within walking distance for business owners and employees.

Are there special rates for people with accessible passes or veteran’s cards?

Individuals with accessible passes or veteran’s cards have a FREE 2-hour limit in the lots and at meters.

Is there Passport Parking?

Downtown Timmins BIA looks partnered with the City of Timmins on a new way to implement paying for parking with “passport parking” app. You can now download the app onto your smartphone or from your PC and pay by debit or credit card to pay for your parking. There is a 35 cent convenience fee per session, that is paid by the motorist.

Rates are as follow:

All on street meters have a maximum of a 2-hour parking allocation.

75 cents per hour are implemented on the following streets only:  Balsam Street South up to Spruce Street South and only between Algonquin Blvd and Second Avenue. (See map)

All remaining on street spots and municipal parking lots are available at 50 cents per hour.

Parking passes are also available for all 7 parking lots. The cost is $45.00 + HST per month for a parking pass. The monthly parking pass is not permitted in two lots which include the Cedar St. lot beside Gibby’s Tavern and the Pine St. lot beside Don’s Pizzeria.

Passes can be purchased at The City Hall during business hours.
