History

Businesses in the downtown area came together to form a business association in the 1960’s. In 1978 the association, led by Ray Eddy, Lewis P. Currie and others, evolved into the Downtown Timmins Business Improvement Area (BIA).  In 2003, Downtown Timmins BIA was incorporated.

Downtown Timmins currently has over 200 members, consisting of retailers, medical offices, law offices, banks, services and other businesses.  It is the second largest business organization in the city, with the Chamber of Commerce being the largest. These businesses work closely together through various promotions and activities to increase business in the Downtown.  The BIA is currently working on an expansion program and continues their hard work on Beautification, Parking, and Promotion programs. Expansion of our Downtown area and larger scaled events will shape the future of our downtown.
